Who Am I?
Welcome to my writing portfolio. My name is Jan Calderon and I’m on the path to graduate from Humboldt State University in the Spring of 2017 with a B. A. in English. My focus lies in Writing Practices. What Have I Done? I am the current Literary Translator for the Toyon, Humboldt State University’s premier multilingual literary journal that features North Coast writing. As of this moment in time, this website is primarily used to blog about the Toyon and my role there. Additionally, during my time at Humboldt State I was awarded with an Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Fellowship. Throughout the Fellowship I worked as an Editorial Assistant, gaining the knowledge and skills provided by the following editorial tasks: obtaining contact information for all the authors to be included in the book, determining copyright for each piece, writing introductions and discussion questions for a number of the articles geared for a student audience, and providing a small number of suggestions for further readings as well. (Please take a look at My Portfolio for more information and applicable links) What Are My Goals? Currently, I am looking forward to my final semester and keeping my eyes open for any more translation or editorial opportunities. |
